Mikel Arteta hints he finally has an idea on the Arsenal player who has been leaking inside info to the media.
Mikel Arteta has revealed that he might have discovered the identity of the mole in the Arsenal camp who has been leaking information to the media.
However, the Gunners boss refused to say whether it was anything to do with the players leaving the club this month.
Arteta warned there would be ‘consequences’ for any Arsenal employee who had leaked out confidential info from the club.
It all started after someone spilled information on a training ground bust-up involving Dani Ceballos and David Luiz earlier in the season.
“I don’t like it at all and I will find out where it is coming from,” Arteta said back in November.
Now, two months later, the Arsenal boss was quizzed on whether his detective work had borne fruit.
“I have sort of an idea, yes,” he said in a press-conference.
When pushed on whether it was related to the players who left this month, such as Mesut Ozil and Sokratis, he added: “No comment on that.”
Arteta also commented on the Gunners’ transfer plans for the January window.
“We are in that process right now,” he added.
“We’ve done the first part (trimming the squad) more or less and now we are focusing on the second phase.”
“Obviously this market and the context makes it really difficult but we are looking at options and we will see what we can do.”
“We are looking at various positions because the movements that we’ve made in this transfer window with some players leaving the club leaves us a little bit short in certain areas. If we can then we will do it, if we can’t then we will just keep going with what we have.”
