Burnley dramatically improved their chances of surviving in the top flight last weekend with an excellent 3-1 win away to Bournemouth, with that result putting them 14th in the table and leaving them some eight points clear of the drop zone as they head into their final four games of the campaign.
However, they aren’t out of danger just yet. All of the teams not yet relegated from the Premier League have games in hand on the Clarets, and with matches against Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal still to come it could be a nervy end to the season here.
Burnley have improved lately though, finally shaking off the effects of an early start to the season. Their 2-0 win over Wolves at the end of March brought their four match losing streak to an end, making it seven wins, three draws, and four defeats from their last 14 league outings.
The incredibly tough final four games of the season will surely be weighing on Sean Dyche’s mind though. Defeat to Cardiff on Saturday could be the turning point in Burnley’s season, and the Bluebirds are in desperate need of points.
Neil Warnock’s side are currently residing inside the bottom three, five points adrift of Southampton above them and knowing that they need to start closing this gap very soon.It’s not been going well for them recently though. A 2-0 defeat to Manchester City earlier in April leaves them looking back on five losses from their last six games, and away from home it’s a similar story. On their travels, The Bluebirds have won two, drawn two, and lost 11 of their league matches, and they face a Burnley side with four wins from their last seven home games on Saturday… MORE HERE
