The former Red Devils boss reckons Rashford dropped a hint that his future may not always be at Old Trafford recently. Louis van Gaal believes Marcus Rashford is open to leaving Manchester United at some point in the future.
The 23-year-old is a homegrown talent and has been a first-team member since Van Gaal handed him his debut in February 2016. He’s since made 234 appearances in all competitions, managing 79 goals and 45 assists.
Rashford’s importance for United has grown since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge. He has become a central figure in the Norwegian’s plans and bagged an important brace to help club beat Sheffield United 3-2 last week.
And amid rumors of a new lucrative contract set to come his way, Rashford recently announced he sees his future at Old Trafford.
But the England international stopped short of stating he would never play for another club, which caught Van Gaal’s interest.

“I admire him for being such an honest and pure guy. He comes from an area where things are tough,”
“And the way he is fighting for less privileged kids is wonderful. He does a lot of stuff for the community. He is a great lad.
“I enjoyed listening to him when he said he hopes to play at United for a long, long time.
“But I listened carefully. And he did not say he would never play for another club.’’
Rashford and United will face Leeds in a Premier League clash on Sunday evening.
