United States international and former Newcastle and Tottenham defender DeAndre Yedlin has signed for David Beckham’s Inter Miami in MLS on a contract that runs until 2025, with an option to extend for another year.
The 28-year-old is the latest recognisable name to join the side managed by Phil Neville, with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Blaise Matuidi and Kieran Gibbs already in his squad.
The American right-back was brought to England by Spurs in 2015 from Seattle Sounders and spent time on loan at Sunderland before making over 100 appearances for Newcastle from 2016-21.
He since spent a year at Galatasaray but left the Turkish side last month and has taken the opportunity to return to the States with Inter Miami.
Inter Miami’s Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson said: ‘I’m thrilled that we’re able to bring a player of the quality of DeAndre to Inter Miami.
‘He is a very talented, exciting, and dynamic player on the pitch and an experienced winner who is also a positive character in the locker room that will help us improve our roster.
‘He’s a well-rounded right back who likes to get up and down the pitch and has proven himself in MLS, the Premier League, the Super Lig, and at the international level, and we look forward to seeing him help us succeed now at Inter Miami.’
Inter Miami begin their 2022 MLS campaign on 26 February at home against Chicago Fire.
It was a disappointing season in 2021 for Phil Neville and his side, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference.
