Bye bye Osimhen, Manchester United Finally Have their Striker – Ten Hag Smiles

Manchester United Set to Make Oppening Bid for Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United appears set to take action in bolstering their attacking force by targeting Atalanta BC’s young forward, Rasmus Hojlund.

The club’s pursuit of a new striker has been evident since the conclusion of the last season, with manager Erik ten Hag determined to address the team’s issues in that area.

Although Marcus Rashford’s impressive performance in the 2022-23 season provided a ray of hope, Ten Hag is keen on exploring other options, especially with Anthony Martial’s potential departure from Old Trafford following Wout Weghorst’s exit.

Unfortunately, United has faced obstacles in their search for a suitable striker, with renowned players like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen proving too costly, leading the club to shift their focus to Hojlund.

The Danish talent demonstrated his capabilities in Serie A last season, tallying nine goals and four assists in 32 appearances, solidifying his status as one of the most promising prospects in world football.

Naturally, Atalanta is hesitant to part ways with the 20-year-old unless a compelling offer comes their way.

It’s been reported that Atalanta values Hojlund at around €70m (£60.1m), a price that might escalate over time or with increased competition from other clubs.

One notable competitor is Paris Saint-Germain, who are reportedly in talks with Hojlund’s representatives for a potential move to Parc des Princes. However, Manchester United aims to secure the young striker’s signature and are poised to make their first formal bid in the near future.

Despite financial challenges and concerns over Financial Fair Play regulations, the Red Devils have already invested heavily in players like goalkeeper Andre Onana and midfielder Mason Mount.

Nonetheless, the acquisition of a new frontman remains a priority for the club. Hojlund seems to be their prime target, and United is willing to offer him a long-term contract to lure him away from Atalanta. While Hojlund is relatively new to the Italian club, having joined less than a year ago, his current contract runs until the end of the 2026-27 season, granting Atalanta significant leverage in retaining him.
