Manchester United’s head coach, Erik ten Hag has addressed the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Mason Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford, asserting that the club would ultimately be the ones to determine the young player’s fate.

The 21-year-old talent has been absent from the 20-time English champions’ lineup since January 2022 following serious criminal allegations made against him by her girlfriend.
Initially detained on suspicion of rape and assault, Greenwood faced further charges of sexual assault and cause of bodily harm.
However, recent developments have seen all charges against him dropped, paving way for his return to competitive football.

With Manchester United nearing the conclusion of their internal investigation into the events leading to his arrest, a decision is expected to be made before the new season kicks off.
While many speculate that a sale is unlikely, it is widely believed that the club may opt for a loan move to a foreign team as the suitable resolution.
Pressed on the matter during a pre-season press conference ahead of a game against Arsenal, Ten Hag disclosed that he had shared his thoughts on the best course of action, but ultimately the club’s verdict would prevail in this delicate situation.
“It’s a club decision, and of course, I shared my opinions, but it’s a club decision and we all have to accept that,” Ten Hag conveyed.

On whether he wishes to retain Greenwood, the Dutchman responded, “I can’t say so much about it, but I shared my opinion about it, so let’s see what’s going to happen.”
Recent indications, such as Greenwood listing his house for rent, have led to speculations that he might spend the upcoming season away from Manchester United.
Italian Clubs like Roma, Atalanta BC, Juventus, and AC Milan have reportedly expressed interest in potentially arranging a short-term deal during the summer transfer window.
Despite the ordeal, Greenwood’s contract with Manchester United still has two years remaining, with the option to extend for an additional 12 months, making the possibility of a contract termination even more remote.

Before his arrest, Greenwood had carved out a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young talent, having made 129 appearances for Manchester United in various competitions, amassing an impressive tally of 35 goals and 12 assists.
